Complete madness in the estuary. To start with a big sand dune had formed in the entrance to the estuary, so no one could get their cars onto the sand. I went for it anyway and manage to rally drive my way onto the sands with my Transit sliding all over the place but not getting stuck. Once onto the sands, there was a completely mad wind blowing, so I rigged my smallest sail (3.4m) and got out there on my wave board. Even with the 3.4m sail I was completely overpowered most of the time, but managed to just about hold on and have some crazy reaches across the bay. Gybing was virtually impossible though, and even chop hops were difficult as the rig just got ripped out of my hands as soon as I left the water.

After an hour or so, a few 4WD vehicles had made it onto the sands, and first AndyW walked onto the sands and then Dave and Sarah. They decided against going out though, as although the wind had dropped a little it was still mad!. I stayed out a little longer, then packed up and once again slid my way out over the sand dune.

Not exactly a comfortable session, but still good, and certainly challenging conditions.
